Terms of Balancing

Balancing means to improve the mass distribution of a rotary body in such a way that free centrifugal forces of the body circulating around it’s geometrical,

constructionally forced axis of rotation do not exceed the permissible tolerances.

With a moderate workshop balancing it is expected that the target performance is balanced in the best way either completely rotationally symmetrically or in it‘s

mass effect from the construction side. Necessary bit by bit reworking only eliminates unavoidable deviations between the actual performance and the ideal

picture of the construction design.

Balancing necessity

The high number of turbine revolutions, which are necessary to achieve a small efficiency weight, premise sufficient mass compensation by good balancing.

Free centrifugal forces and centrifugal force moments, which appear in unsufficient balanced rotary parts are unwanted or even dangerous for different reasons.  Depending on the circumstances they lead to following features:

-    Inadmissable high dynamic bearing pressure, which causes a rapid abraison and a short life span of the highly loaded ceramic ball bearings !

-    Symptoms of fatigue at the housing and overloaded breakages, which could arise at the spindle, control system (e.g. guide blade - turbine-sided) through

resonance. Highly precise micro-balancing reduces excitation forces and eliminates difficulties of the resonance pass ! Electronic components of the RC plant are also less loaded !

-    Reduction of friction locking of bolt connections, therefore it comes to loosely screws or connections, which can cause many problems for  a failure safe turbine.

-    Inconvenient noise emission (airborn / impact sound) at high number of rotations also on larger distances ! An easy run is always judged knowingly or unknowingly for the running quality (balancing quality) !

Accurate and professional turbine balancing or of it‘s components always leads to an increased safety, life span and usability. We therefore recommend a balancing service in our Balancing-Center or a complete maintenance including a high-precision balancing not only because of technical reasons but also from the economical view.
